KUALA LUMPUR: U Mobile, Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) as a Corporate Patron for the 2025/2026 term. This collaboration will see U Mobile play a pivotal role in accelerating the digitalisation of Malaysia’s retail sector.
“U Mobile is pleased to partner with MRCA to support the digital transformation of the retail industry in line with Malaysia’s broader digitalisation objectives. Through this initiative, we look forward to over 600 retail brands and 40,000 outlets benefitting from our ULTRA5G experience, which will enable smart retail solutions such as cashless payments and intelligent inventory management. We believe U Mobile is well-positioned to support the retail sector in enhancing efficiency, customer experience, and competitiveness, as we strive to deliver the widest and most comprehensive 5G coverage in Malaysia, prioritising both indoor and outdoor connectivity,” stated Alex Tan, U Mobile’s Chief Sales Officer.
In line with U Mobile’s 5G network expansion plan, the company recently launched the ULTRA5G experience at Berjaya Times Square, where its headquarters are located, making the mall the first fully 5G-enabled shopping centre in Malaysia.
The partnership with MRCA was formalised during the opening ceremony of Franchise Expo Malaysia 2025 last week, with Alex Tan representing U Mobile and Datuk Dr. Ken Phua, President of MRCA. The event was also attended by Datuk Ewon Benedick, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Co-operatives, who was the Guest of Honour.
