UPKO Candidate Rowindy Lawrence Odong Vows to Uphold Democracy and Community Choice in Membakut

MEMBAKUT: Rowindy Lawrence Odong, representing the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) for N31 Membakut, shared her vision for local governance and emphasised the importance of democratic principles in community appointments.

Rowindy,  Candidate Number 3 expressed her dedication to ensuring that the community remains central to decision-making processes. She highlighted her stance on the appointment of village heads and the roles of the Village Development and Security Comittee (JKKK), stating that these positions should be decided by the community members themselves through fair and transparent elections.

“When the time comes, if I am given the mandate to be a representative, I will hand over that power entirely to the people in each village,” she said. “We will hold votes, and the village heads and JKKK will be chosen by the members of their own community, regardless of which political party they belong to. If they are eligible, hardworking, and well-liked by the villagers, they should be given the opportunity to serve, even if they come from a different party.”

Rowindy reaffirmed her belief in democratic principles, emphasising that elected leaders should be those who earn the trust and support of their communities. “Anyone who becomes a village head or JKKK must be elected by their respective community members. That is the proper way to ensure fair representation,” she added.

She also assured the community that if she wins the upcoming election, she will prioritise maintaining democratic values and fostering harmony within Membakut. “I will ensure that democracy is upheld and that harmony is preserved here,” she stated confidently.

In closing, Rowindy urged voters to support her in the upcoming general election. “Vote for me, candidate number 3 from UPKO, N31 Membakut. Let us work together to build a community where everyone’s voice is heard and respected,” she concluded.
