PENAMPANG: The Moyog Penampang Community Welfare Association, led by Chairman Billy Jinawat and United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Penampang Youth Chief Billy Joe Dominic, joined forces to send assistance to flood victims who have been severely affected.
A refrigerator was delivered to a flood victim named Paulus Jintuil in Kg Ramayah, Penampang.
According to Billy Jinawat, this flood victim is a dedicated individual who worked tirelessly to clear blocked drainage ditches to ensure that floodwaters could flow into the drains, helping the water recede more quickly in the Donggongon area during the flood on June 30, 2024.
He also covered a hole beneath a signboard for public safety, as someone had previously fallen into that hole.
"He did everything he could to assist and fulfill his responsibilities while serving on the Penampang District Council at that time."
His heroic deeds are to be lauded as he went over and beyond his duties to help others, shared Billy Jinawat.
"Unfortunately, many of his household items in Kg Ramayah were damaged by the flood. To honour his contributions and sacrifices, we provided him with essential daily items, including a refrigerator for storing perishable food."
A washing machine was also delivered to a recipient named Edward Potilu in Kg Inobong, Penampang, while Ah Choy Ah Fah in Kg Kolopis received a generator set to replace his damaged unit that could no longer be repaired due to the flood.
The Moyog Penampang Community Welfare Association also expresses gratitude to the UPKO Penampang Youth Chief Billy Joe Dominic for identifying these victims in need of assistance, and thanks to KFC and QSR Stores Sdn Bhd Sabah for their continued support in this initiative, he concluded.
