PETALING JAYA: The Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) has expressed deep shock and grave concern over the recent syringe attack on the son of former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, allegedly carried out by masked assailants.

In a statement on Thursday, CFM Chairman Rev Dr Eu Hong Seng said the act appeared intended to intimidate and silence an elected representative, describing it as having no place in a civilised and democratic society.

“CFM unequivocally condemns this cowardly and reprehensible act of violence, and calls upon the Royal Malaysian Police to conduct a swift, thorough and transparent investigation to identify both the perpetrators and any parties who may have orchestrated or abetted this crime,” he added.

He further stressed the culprits must be brought to justice as soon as possible, while expressing hope that no harmful substances were involved in the assault.

“We pray that Rafizi’s son will make a full and speedy recovery both physically, mentally and emotionally from this distressing and traumatic incident,” he added.

CFM also voiced deep concern over the rising incidence of bullying in schools, hostels and training academies across the country, noting that recent tragedies, such as the case of Zara Qairina Mahathir in Sabah, underscore the urgent need for comprehensive measures to tackle the problem.

The federation urged authorities, educators and community leaders to work together to ensure that every child in Malaysia can grow up and learn in a safe, supportive and respectful environment, free from fear, harassment and violence.
