ZAGREB: Croatia observed the day of mourning Saturday for the victims killed in the magnitude 6.2 earthquake that struck Sisak-Moslavina County on Dec 29, Croatian HINA news agency reported.

On Saturday, flags were flown at half-mast to honour the seven victims: a 12-year-old girl who was killed in the city of Petrinja, five residents in the village of Majske Poljane and an organist who was found under the rubble of a church in Zazina near Sisak.

Religious services were also held in memory of the victims.

More than 2,000 buildings were damaged in the devastating earthquake that hit the area of Petrinja, some 50 kilometres south of Zagreb, at 12.19 pm last Tuesday.

According to the Croatian Seismology Service, the quake was felt across the country. -Bernama
