KOTA KINABALU: The State Government has directed all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Group General Managers (GGMs) and General Managers (GMs) of government-linked companies (GLCs) and statutory bodies in Sabah to submit written performance reports every three months directly to the Chief Minister beginning next year.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor said the directive is aimed at ensuring the State Government receives timely and accurate updates on project implementation, financial standing, service delivery and the overall performance of each organisation.
“This measure is crucial for monitoring the performance of every entity,” he said after chairing the State Cabinet meeting here today.
Hajiji emphasised that any CEO, GGM or GM who fails to submit their reports, does not meet their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), or demonstrates unsatisfactory performance will have their position reviewed, including possible reassignment or termination.
He urged all organisational heads to establish clear, measurable and mandate-aligned KPIs, stressing that every project, initiative, programme and expenditure must uphold professional governance standards, including financial integrity, transparent implementation and accountability to the people.
While acknowledging that GLCs and statutory bodies have varying mandates — some driven by commercial returns and others by social obligations, the Chief Minister stressed that all entities must demonstrate high levels of commitment, efficiency and integrity.
“Every appointed CEO, GGM and GM must contribute responsibly, as expected by both the government and the people, to help drive Sabah’s progress,” he said.
“With more structured monitoring and stronger accountability, the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 agenda will be implemented more effectively and deliver direct benefits to the people of Sabah,” he added.
