KENINGAU: In conjunction with the 30th anniversary of Tzu Chi’s environmental conservation efforts, a gotong royong or communal work was held in Keningau township.
State Assemblyman for Liawan, Datuk Annuar Ayub Aman, together with his wife Tengku Adlina Marita Tengku Adlin attended the event
The couple took part on the ground in the gotong-royong collecting litter around the Tzu Chi recycling collection centre located near Mee Woo shop in Keningau town.

“This is more than just physically picking up rubbish. It’s a symbol of awareness, that this Earth is a trust from the Almighty, and we are all responsible for caring for it with respect,” said Annuar as he greeted volunteers warmly.
He praised the spirit of the Tzu Chi volunteers and the local community who have embraced environmental care as a way of life, not just a one-off activity.
“What began as a small act, separating recyclable materials, has now grown into a global movement that touches hearts and changes how people view their responsibility towards the planet,” he added.
Tengku Adlina also expressed appreciation for Tzu Chi’s unwavering commitment and consistent efforts in educating the public quietly yet effectively.
“Change doesn’t need to be loud, but it must be consistent. That’s the strength of Tzu Chi, touching hearts without force, inspiring through example,” she said.
The gotong-royong event saw participation from people from all walks of life, including the Chinese Community Leader (KMC) of Keningau, Kapitan Misha Ho, community activists, leaders, and local residents, symbolising that love for the Earth knows no age, status, or ethnicity.
