KENINGAU: The spirit of patriotism and service to the nation is alive and well in Liawan, as a local youth takes his first step towards a military career.
Backed by strong support from Liawan State Assemblyman Datuk Annuar Ayub Aman, the young man, Mohd Ilham Perwiradin will soon report for duty at Lok Kawi Camp, to begin his journey with the Malaysian Army through the Male Army Basic Recruit Training Course, Series 204/2025.
The enlistment and oath-taking process will take place at 675 Transit, marking the official start of his training this July.
In a show of encouragement, Annuar extended a symbolic contribution to Mohd Ilham, delivered on his behalf by Luagan Sub-District Development Officer, Ruddy Gijau, representing the Liawan Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM).
Speaking at the handover, Ruddy praised the young recruit's commitment, calling it a bold and commendable decision to serve the nation through military service.
“This is more than just a career choice, it’s a demonstration of courage, discipline, and love for the country. Annuar fully supports youths like Mohd Ilham who answer the call of national service,” he said.
He added that military service is a vital avenue for character-building, national unity, and the empowerment of rural youth.
“Every young person who joins the armed forces is a symbol of hope and pride for the community. They are not only protecting the country, but also setting an example for others to follow,” Ruddy added.
Annuar’s support reflects his broader commitment to youth development, not only through infrastructure and economic initiatives, but also through encouraging discipline, resilience, and national contribution among young people in rural areas.
As Mohd Ilham prepares to don the uniform and begin his basic training, he carries with him not just personal ambition, but also the hopes of a community proud to see one of its own take on the honour and responsibility of defending the nation.
