Kadamaian, Kota Belud to host the Mr. Sabah 2026 State Bodybuilding Championship

KOTA BELUD


June 25 – Kadamaian, Kota Belud, has been selected as the host venue for the Mr. Sabah 2026 State Bodybuilding Championship, which will be held on 22 August 2026 at Kadamaian Square Hall, Taginambur, Kota Belud.


This prestigious championship is organized by the Sabah Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) in collaboration with the Kota Belud District Office, marking another effort to strengthen the development of bodybuilding in Sabah while promoting Kota Belud as a destination for tourism and sporting events.


SBBA President, Clarence Runggi, expressed his sincere appreciation to Kota Belud District Officer, Peter Jitun, for accepting the invitation to host the championship and for the commitment shown in ensuring its successful organization.


To coordinate preparations for the event, the first coordination meeting was held at the Kota Belud District Office and chaired by Peter Jitun. The meeting was attended by SBBA President Clarence Runggi, Carlye Lajamin, Political Secretary to Ewon Benedick, officers from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia (KBS), the Sabah State Sports Council (MSNS), representatives from government agencies in Kota Belud, and members of the SBBA committee.


During the meeting, the District Officer expressed confidence that hosting Mr. Sabah 2026 would bring positive impacts to the district. Besides gathering the best bodybuilders from across Sabah, the championship is expected to serve as a platform to showcase Kota Belud’s natural beauty, cultural diversity, and tourism products to visitors from within and outside the district.


According to him, the presence of athletes, officials, supporters, and visitors is expected to benefit the local economy through increased business activities in the accommodation, food, and tourism sectors.


Mr. Sabah 2026 will feature 19 categories in both bodybuilding and physique events, with athletes from throughout Sabah competing for championship titles in their respective divisions.

Meanwhile, Clarence Runggi stated that SBBA remains committed to bringing championships to various districts across Sabah in order to expand the development of bodybuilding. He expressed hope that hosting the event in Kadamaian would become a catalyst for nurturing new talent, particularly among youth in Kota Belud and surrounding districts.


SBBA greatly appreciates the support of all parties involved, especially the Kota Belud District Office, government agencies, strategic partners, and sponsors who are contributing to the success of Mr. Sabah 2026.


“It is hoped that this championship will not only produce athletes capable of competing at the national level but will also contribute to the growth of sports tourism and the local economy,” he said.


The public is invited to attend and witness the competition featuring Sabah’s finest bodybuilders while supporting and celebrating this prestigious sporting event in Kadamaian, Kota Belud.
