KUALA LUMPUR: The Consulate General of Malaysia in Hong Kong and Macao has urged Malaysians in the territories to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions following the issuance of the highest Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 10 due to Super Typhoon Ragasa.

According to the consulate, the signal has been in effect since 2.40 am (local time) today, followed by the Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal at 2.45 am (local time), with both warnings expected to remain in force for some time.

Malaysians living in or traveling to Hong Kong and Macao are advised to stay indoors during the T8 or higher Tropical Cyclone Signal, stock up on food and essential supplies, and avoid going near shorelines.

“Those with travel plans are also urged to check with their airlines for updates on revised flight schedules,” the consulate said in a statement today.

It added that Malaysians who sustain injuries requiring urgent medical attention should call the emergency line 999 and notify the consulate via email at mwhongkong@kln.gov.my or via WhatsApp at +852 6900 6390.

The consulate further reminded Malaysians to closely monitor official advisories from the Hong Kong Observatory (www.hko.gov.hk) and the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (www.smg.gov.mo).
