MDK FC’s compete in Women’s Futsal Championship

KENINGAU: MDK Football Club (MDK FC), will be participating in the upcoming Mini Women’s Futsal Championship in Kota Kinabalu this July.


The team will represent Keningau district in the state-level tournament, showcasing the region’s emerging talent in women’s futsal.


Liawan State Assemblyman Datuk Annuar Ayub contributed to the team which was presented on his behalf by Community Development Officer, Hairul Ahmad Syam, during a brief ceremony at the Liawan Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) office.


The Team representative Yvonne James accepted the contribution on behalf of MDK FC.


Speaking at the handover, Hairul emphasised the importance of nurturing local sporting talent and encouraging female participation in competitive sports.


“Annuar remains firmly committed to promoting sports among young people, especially women, as a way to build discipline, foster teamwork, and strengthen social unity,” he said.


MDK FC’s involvement in the state tournament not only provides valuable exposure for local players but also signals Keningau’s growing presence in the women’s futsal scene.


“This is more than just participation, it’s a proud moment for the district, proving that our female athletes have the skill and drive to compete at a higher level,” Hairul said.
