KOTA KINABALU: Sabah drew international attention as Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of the Miss World Organisation, Julia Morley CBE, and Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata led the Beauty With a Purpose Tour in Sabah from 4 to the 10 February.

A key highlight was a charity programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendidikan Khas (SKPK) Kota Kinabalu in Tuaran on 5 February, aimed at supporting children with special needs, their families and educators. The delegation also included Dr Sean Wong BBM, chief executive officer of HyperLive Entertainment and franchise owner of Miss World Malaysia, and Miss World Malaysia 2025 Taanusiya Chetty.

Assistant Minister for State Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Jordan Jude Ellron, joined Mrs Morley, World Opal Suchata, Dr Wong and invited guests at a dinner in Kota Kinabalu, where they took part in the traditional tossing of “yee sang” as a symbol of unity and goodwill.

The purpose-driven tour combined charitable outreach, community engagement and tourism promotion, positioning Sabah not only as a destination of natural beauty and cultural diversity, but also of compassion and social responsibility.

Activities included visits to special needs schools, collaboration with the Sabah Autism Society, outreach at Likas Hospital, engagement with rural communities, and cultural and tourism showcases.

Dr Wong said the initiative aimed to highlight Sabah’s humanity alongside its natural attractions, while fostering meaningful change for communities in need.

Content from the visit was shared across global Miss World platforms, further promoting Sabah’s heritage, landscapes and inclusive community values to an international audience.
