KOTA KINABALU: More than 40 residents of Kampung Rampayan Laut, Manggatal, affected by floods received food basket assistance through the cooperation of various parties concerned about community welfare.
The contribution programme involved several sponsors, including the Lions Club of KK Downtown and the Malaysia Financial Planning Council (MFPC), which donated food and rice packs to be distributed to the villagers.
Chairman of the Sabah Malaysia Financial Planning Council, Sunny Chai, said the initiative also received support from FoodTown and Imbasjaya Sdn. Bhd, which contributed food supplies.

In addition, he said the community initiative was also assisted by KMH company, which provided transportation support.
“This was to ensure the contributions could be delivered directly to the affected locations, with all parties working together to make the programme a success.
“The food baskets were handed over directly to the villagers to ease their burden after their homes and belongings were affected by the floods,” he said.
Sunny added that the initiative was held to ensure the basic needs of the residents were secured while also providing moral support to those affected.
He further said that such efforts could only be realised through the support of various parties, including charitable bodies, community organisations, and private companies that came forward to contribute.
Meanwhile, the villagers who received the aid expressed their gratitude and appreciation to all parties for their concern towards their situation.
One of the villagers, Aris Ramli, said the aid programme reflected the spirit of cooperation and compassion among the multicultural community in Sabah in helping those in need.
He added that with such contributions, it is hoped the burden of the affected families can be eased, helping them to continue their daily lives.
