KUALA LUMPUR: Senetas, a global leader in high-assurance network encryption solutions, has announced that its CN Series encryptors have been officially certified under Malaysia's Produk Kriptografi Terpercaya Negara (PKTN) scheme, attaining the Confidential classification.
This development marks a major step forward in Malaysia's cybersecurity landscape, as it is the first time advanced sovereign-grade hardware encryptors have received PKTN certification.
The PKTN scheme, part of Malaysia's National Cryptography Policy (NCP), ensures that cryptographic products meet the country’s highest national standards before being deployed in Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII). Products undergo a rigorous, multi-stage evaluation, including technical validation, penetration testing, and committee review , before receiving final approval from CyberSecurity Malaysia.
With certification now granted, Senetas encryptors are formally recognised as trusted technologies for protecting Malaysia's most sensitive digital systems. The Confidential classification confirms their capability to secure highly sensitive government and enterprise communications, aligning with Malaysia's national security priorities.
This certification is more than a technical endorsement; it represents a strategic milestone in safeguarding Malaysia’s digital future. The PKTN framework ensures that only validated cryptographic solutions are used to secure critical sectors such as defence, finance, energy, and telecommunications.
As cyber threats grow increasingly sophisticated, PKTN certification provides assurance that approved technologies are equipped to withstand today’s risks while preparing for the challenges of post-quantum cryptography. Senetas’ achievement underscores Malaysia’s commitment to building a resilient, sovereign, and future-ready digital ecosystem.
The certification was through close collaboration achieved between Senetas, its global distribution partner Thales, and Malaysian technology partner NRM Technology Sdn Bhd.
The partnership highlights the importance of both international and local cooperation in advancing Malaysia’s cybersecurity objectives, while ensuring access to world-class encryption technologies for CNII protection.
“We are honoured to have achieved PKTN certification in Malaysia for our quantum-resistant network encryptors,” said Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer at Senetas.
“This milestone demonstrates that our technology meets the nation’s highest standards for trusted cryptography and reaffirms our commitment to supporting Malaysia’s digital sovereignty and national security goals.”
