KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has strongly condemned Israel’s military strikes on Iran, including targeted attacks that claimed the lives of senior Iranian leaders.
In a statement today, Anwar calling it a grave and reckless act that threatens to further destabilise the already fragile Middle East region.
Anwar said the strikes appear to be a deliberate attempt to undermine ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran.
“This is clearly aimed at sabotaging diplomatic efforts. It also comes amid renewed scrutiny of Israel’s conduct in Gaza and mounting political pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu," he said.
The Prime Minister urged Israel’s allies, particularly those with influence and leverage, to exert maximum pressure to put an end to the aggression.
"The international community must not enable actions that sabotage diplomacy and endanger global peace," he stressed.
Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s firm stance in support of peaceful resolution of conflicts and rejected any form of violence that endangers regional and global stability.
