KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is extending a warm welcome to global citizens through the Sabah-Malaysia My Second Home (Sabah-MM2H) initiative, positioning the state as both a premier travel destination and an attractive long-term residence.

Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Jafry Ariffin , said the state government fully supports the sustainable growth of the Sabah-MM2H programme, citing its positive economic and social impact.

“We believe this initiative contributes positively to our economy by stimulating tourism, real estate, local businesses and professional services, while also strengthening international ties and cross-cultural understanding,” he said.

He was speaking at the Sabah Malaysia My Second Home Consultants Association pre-Chinese New Year dinner gala and inaugural installation ceremony, which saw Jenny Ngu elected as president.

Jafry stressed that professional consultants and industry partners play a pivotal role in ensuring the continued credibility and integrity of Sabah-MM2H.

He urged the association to uphold high standards, work closely with the government and actively promote Sabah as a safe, welcoming and sustainable home for the international community.

He also welcomed the strategic collaboration between Sabah-MM2H and , noting that the partnership would help bolster investor confidence, streamline financial facilitation and strengthen the broader support ecosystem for long-term residents in the state.

Highlighting Sabah’s multicultural fabric, he said the state’s greatest strength lies in its diversity, where people of different cultures, backgrounds and nationalities live harmoniously.

“This spirit of inclusiveness is what makes Sabah not only a wonderful place to visit, but also a remarkable place to call home,” he added.

Beyond its reputation as a world-class tourism destination, Sabah is increasingly gaining recognition as a preferred location to live, invest and build enduring connections.
