KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Government has been told to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set out by the National Security Council (NSC).
According to a report by Malay Mail, the State Government was told that after it announced yesterday that dine-ins are permitted from today onwards.
Senior Defence Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri said the SOP should apply to the entire nation and states are not supposed to have different SOPs.
This, he said, has been conveyed to the Sabah representative during a meeting with the NSC yesterday.
Ismail added that the SOPs can only be tightened and not loosened in order to curb the spread of Covid-19 effectively.
Yesterday, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced that several economic sectors will be allowed under the state's recovery phase which includes dine-ins.
However, many eateries have today been told to switch back to takeaway services only after they set up their tables for dine-in purposes.
This resulted in confusion and wreked havoc among the consumers and traders of the food and beverages industry.
Some operators claimed that they were warned that they would be fined if they disobey the directives.
