SANDAKAN: Solar-powered lights along the covered pedestrian walkway in Kam Jai Yen were installed following requests from local residents.

Previously, the area was poorly lit at night, raising safety concerns for pedestrians, particularly the elderly and schoolchildren. With the installation of the solar lights, the walkway is now brighter, safer, and more comfortable for community use.

Jetama Water Sdn Bhd Chairperson and Political Secretary to Tanjong Papat Assemblyman, Liau Fui Fui, has initiated the installation to benefit the people in that area.

Liau stressed that this initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to improve public amenities for the benefit of the community. She also expressed her appreciation to all parties who highlighted the need for the project and supported its successful implementation.

“When the community and leadership work hand in hand, we can create a better environment for everyone,” she said.

After the installation, a joint monitoring session was conducted, attended by Datuk Poon Ming Fung @ Frankie, Assemblyman forTanjong Papat and Chairman of Sabah Development Berhad.

His presence showed his commitment to safeguarding the welfare and security of local residents.
