SYED SADDIQ QUESTIONS THE NEED TO APPOINT DEPUTY MINISTER

PETALING JAYA: The government’s move to appoint another deputy minister while the people are struggling to put food on the table at the moment has former Minister of Youth and Sports Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman raised an eyebrow.
Taking to Facebook, he said that the government seemed to have enough money to appoint another person as a deputy minister.
“Not only are people not allowed to travel now, but I wonder how the government can see that appointing a deputy tourism ministry can help the people fill their empty stomachs.
“But it is always hard and there are many barriers when it comes to doing something for the people,” the MP for Muar said.
Syed Saddiq also indicated that there are a lot of the government’s promises that have yet to be fulfilled, such as free laptops and e-wallet assistance for students.
“Want to apply for financial assistance but the government asked us to dip into our own EPF savings. Want to ask for a moratorium to temporarily defer payment to the bank but it’s not approved,” the Facebook posting read.
The current Perikatan Nasional (PN) government puts its priority on its political survival over the public’s, he added.
“Ministers and deputy ministers get to be grateful for their salaries and positions while the people have lost their jobs, closed their businesses and auctioned off their houses and cars.”
