KENINGAU: Two skills-based courses, Mastering Event Decoration & Styling and Vehicle Air Conditioning Maintenance, were successfully concluded with a closing ceremony and certificate presentation held at the hall of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bingkor.

The event was initially scheduled to be officiated by the Bingkor State Assemblyman Datuk Robert Tawik Mansai, but he was represented by the Community Development Officer for UPPM Bingkor, Zaki Zakaria.

The programme was an initiative of the Department of Human Resource Development (JPSM), in collaboration with implementation partners AMG Academy and Sharif Perchaya Sdn. Bhd., aimed at empowering rural communities by equipping them with technical and creative skills to generate income.

According to Zaki, participants were urged not to stop at merely obtaining a certificate, but to fully utilise the knowledge they had gained to improve their standard of living.

"Datuk Robert advised that each participant should regard this knowledge as a foundation for self-reliance and for contributing to the community. It would be a loss if these skills were not translated into action and personal initiatives," he said.

Among those present to support the event were JPSM Assistant Director, Farrah Misha Mohamad; Headteacher of SK Bingkor, Sylvester Balang; Faridah Alexcius Muri Gulim, Manager of AMG Academy and Trainer for the Mastering Event Decoration & Styling course; and Sharif Aeman Azharie Bin Razis, Manager of Sharif Perchaya Sdn. Bhd. and Trainer for the Vehicle Air Conditioning Maintenance course.

Both courses form part of JPSM’s ongoing efforts to provide training and certification platforms for the local community, in line with the human capital development aspirations of the state of Sabah and the N.40 Bingkor constituency's vision of "Developing with the People."

The modest yet meaningful ceremony also included the presentation of certificates and Decoration Equipment Kits to participants, symbolising their successful completion of the training.
