KOTA BELUD: This year’s United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) National Kaamatan Celebration carried added significance as it was held at Kadamaian Square, Kota Belud, in honour of its President, Datuk Ewon Benedick.

UPKO Supreme Council Member Marcellus Tambud stated that the choice of Kadamaian as the host location was a tribute to Ewon’s inspiring leadership, which has strengthened UPKO’s role in national human capital development.

“My fellow comrades from UPKO Papar, especially those from the Limbahau constituency, and I joined the festivities in a spirit of unity and celebration," he said.

"This Kaamatan serves as a reminder of the importance of embracing our diversity and the rich cultural heritage passed down by our ancestors, values that transcend ideology and personal beliefs.”

He further emphasised that the Kaamatan Festival is not merely a harvest celebration, but a powerful symbol of cultural resilience, community solidarity, and shared hope for a brighter future for Sabah and Malaysia as a whole.

The vibrant celebration brought together various communities and grassroots leaders from across the state, reinforcing UPKO’s role as a unifying force and a voice for Malaysians of all backgrounds.
