KOTA KINABALU: Sabah DAP Women’s Chief and Secretary of Pakatan Harapan Women Sabah, Bronica Sikula, has extended her congratulations to Datuk Julita Mojungki on her appointment as Sabah’s Minister of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing.
She said the appointment reflects meaningful recognition of women’s leadership in the Sabah administration, in line with the aspirations of Iltizam Wanita Harapan Sabah 2025, which emphasises the role of women as pillars of family wellbeing, community development and the state’s overall progress.
In line with this commitment, Bronica stressed that women’s leadership must be strengthened not only at ministerial level but also within the ranks of assistant ministers.
Given that only five out of 73 State Legislative Assembly seats, just 6.85 per cent, are held by women, she noted that the Appointed Assemblyman (ADUN Dilantik) positions should prioritise women to help narrow the significant gender gap.
She expressed hope that the appointments of assistant ministers and ADUN Dilantik will also be given to capable, principled and community-minded women leaders.
This step, she said, would ensure the continuity of inclusive policies while amplifying women’s voices in decision-making processes that directly affect the wellbeing of the people of Sabah.
Bronica added that while Datuk Julita’s appointment is an important step towards empowering women’s leadership, the effort must be supported through collective commitment.
She called on all parties, whether at grassroots level or within state institutions—to continue supporting courageous and principled women leaders.
With the spirit of Wanita Harapan Sabah 2025, she said she is confident that women’s leadership will drive Sabah towards a future that is more prosperous, fair and full of hope.
