KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded a total of 94 new Covid-19 cases which are only reported in 15 out of 27 districts.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the total cases today brought the cumulative number of the total statewide infections to 52,064.

A total of 12 districts of 27 in Sabah did not register new cases, namely Beaufort, Telupid, Putatan, Semporna, Tenom, Kudat, Ranau, Tambunan, Sipitang, Kunak, Kuala Penyu and Tongod.

Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of new cases with 24 cases, followed by Sandakan (19), Kota Marudu (11), Keningau (eight), Tawau (six), Nabawan (five), Tuaran, Lahad Datu, and Kota Belud (four), Kalabakan, Penampang and Beluran (two), Kinabatangan, Pitas, and Papar (one).

"Today, a total of 21 patients have recovered and were discharged, bringing the tally of state recoveries to 50,735.

“Currently, 771 patients are still receiving treatment where 307 are treated in the hospitals, 454 in the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre, and ten in temporary detention centres,” he said in a statement today.

Masidi added, of the total, 33 cases stemmed from close contact screening, while symptomatic screening identified eight cases, 32 cases from existing and new clusters, eight cases from SOSCO screening, and 13 from other categories.

"The total number of Covid-19 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 43 and 13 are ventilated," he stated.

Masidi also disclosed that one new fatality and one new cluster was also reported in Sandakan today, known as the Mawar Cluster.
