KOTA KINABALU: The 21st Asian Battery Conference and Exhibition (ABC), one of the world’s leading international forums for the lead battery sector, concluded successfully at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) recently.
The conference drew more than 1,000 participants and featured over 45 expert speakers, including leading manufacturers, researchers and industry stakeholders from around the globe. Discussions explored global market trends, technological innovations, and advances in lead battery manufacturing and recycling, alongside the latest insights into sustainable energy storage and future growth opportunities.
The opening address was delivered by Mark Stevenson, Technical Director of Global Lead Technologies, who also chaired the preceding 9th International Secondary Lead & Battery Recycling Conference. In his remarks, Stevenson highlighted the resilience and enduring relevance of the lead battery industry, urging participants to focus on innovation and long-term contribution to society rather than questioning the sector’s longevity. He also stressed the importance of intergenerational knowledge transfer, calling on experienced professionals to inspire and nurture the next generation of leaders.
“Instead of asking how long the lead industry will last, we should be asking what legacy we want to leave and what heritage we will entrust to the next generation,” Stevenson said.
To ensure a seamless experience for international delegates, particularly those requiring special entry passes, the Sabah Convention Bureau (SCB) worked closely with local authorities to provide facilitation and support. SCB Chief Executive Officer Noredah Othman said the collaboration reinforced Sabah’s reputation as a premier destination for international business events.
The successful hosting of ABC 2025 not only reaffirmed the event’s significance as a global platform for collaboration but also strengthened Kota Kinabalu’s position as a growing hub for world-class conferences and exhibitions.
