KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Christina Liew has been reappointed as Honorary Adviser to the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) for a third consecutive term.
She received her letter of appointment from SCCC President Datuk Frankie Liew during a courtesy call by a nine-member delegation at her legal office here on Wednesday.
During the visit, Christina Liew was also invited to attend the installation ceremony of the new SCCC Executive Committee for the 2025–2028 term, scheduled to be held on March 16 at the Sabah Hakka Hall.

Also present were SCCC vice-presidents Ir. Ts. K.J. Tan and H.H. Chiew, as well as committee members Chin Hui Zhi, Yee Shi Ping, Chan Jun Git, Lucas Kwan, Cydia Liu and Leo Liew.
Briefing the honorary adviser on the Chamber’s latest developments, Frankie Liew said SCCC had established a Business Matching and Investment Facilitation Department to support engagement with counterparts from the People’s Republic of China seeking trade and investment opportunities in Sabah.
“The department, headed by Liu, will facilitate business matching sessions with visiting Chinese delegations,” he said.
Christina Liew noted that under Frankie Liew’s leadership, the Chamber was well positioned to strengthen collaboration with various Chinese provinces, particularly in the core areas of trade, agriculture, technology, cultural development and bilateral tourism.
“I am impressed by SCCC’s success in expanding its network in China through the establishment of liaison offices in Foshan, Guangzhou and Jilin, among other provinces, to boost trade, investment and cooperation between Sabah and China,” she said.
“With its growing visibility in China, the Chamber is increasingly gaining recognition among business enterprises in the People’s Republic.”
From 2024 until December last year, SCCC facilitated exchange visits with provinces and cities including Zhejiang, Shenzhen, Guizhou, Henan, Fujian and Shanghai, aimed at enhancing trade and investment, exploring potential economic partnerships and promoting cultural exchanges.
