China’s “Silk Road” Scholarship Opens to Malaysian Students, Offers Full Sponsorship and Career Opportunities

KOTA KINABALU: Kibing Group together with Changsha University of Science and Technology, with the support of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, is offering Malaysian students the opportunity to pursue their studies in China through the Chinese Government’s “Silk Road” Full Scholarship Programme for the 2026 intake.
The prestigious programme offers full sponsorship to five undergraduate students and between five and 10 postgraduate students in fields related to new energy and engineering.
The initiative is implemented under the Chinese Government’s “Silk Road” Scholarship Programme established by the China Scholarship Council to support the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
According to the programme statement, the scholarship aims to nurture professionals and industry leaders for countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly in areas such as green energy development, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, finance, disaster risk reduction, and teacher education.
Kibing Group will also provide industrial training and employment opportunities for Malaysian students upon completion of their studies.
Changsha University of Science and Technology, located in Changsha, Hunan Province, is one of China’s leading universities renowned for its strengths in transportation, electric power, and hydraulic engineering.
Meanwhile, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, established in 1994, is a comprehensive public university in Sabah and is recognised as one of the most beautiful seaside universities in the world.
Kibing Group is a large-scale glass manufacturing company headquartered in Shenzhen and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, specialising in photovoltaic glass, architectural glass, and electronic glass industries.
For the 2026 intake, the programme offered is a Bachelor’s Degree in New Energy Science and Engineering, conducted in Mandarin, while the Master’s programme in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics is offered in either Mandarin or English.
The full scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, living allowance, and comprehensive medical insurance.
Applications are open to Malaysian secondary school students, university students, and fresh graduates who meet the academic and language requirements.
Undergraduate applicants must possess at least HSK Level 3 certification, while postgraduate applicants are required to have HSK Level 4 and a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
However, candidates who do not yet possess the relevant language certificates may still undertake Mandarin language courses after enrolment.
Applications opened on 7 May 2026 and will close on 22 May 2026, with results expected to be announced on 31 May 2026.
Interested candidates are required to complete pre-registration with Kibing Group before submitting their application documents online through CSUST’s international platform.
