COMMUNITY INFECTION TRIGGERS NEW COVID-19 CLUSTER IN SIPITANG

KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster has been recorded in Sipitang today which originated from community infection.


State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun, said that the cluster known as Kg Melaman cluster was first detected when seven family members tested positive for Covid-19 in Sindumin Clinic on July 9.


According to him, all individuals had symptoms such as fever, headache and body ache before they tested positive.


“The index case is a 17-year-old woman who worked as a tutor with the family in their house and had similar symptoms but she never went to any health clinic for treatment,” he said in a statement today.


Masidi who is also the state government’s spokesperson for Covid-19 said following the case, close contact screening had been conducted and there has been an increase of cases involving a religious event in Kg Melamam.
