KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster involving the community in Tongod was detected which is known as the Kg Penangan cluster

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the index case is a 76-year-old farmer with a history of hypertension and skin problems.

"The man tested positive on Aug 17 after exhibiting symptoms such as fever, cough and headache two days prior.

"Based on an initial investigation, the index case was found to have travelled to Sandakan on Aug 12 to receive medical treatment on his skin problem," he said in a statement today.

According to Masidi, 14 more individuals among the index case's close contacts and those residing near to him tested positive.

"As of today, the cluster has 35 cumulative cases out of 76 individuals that have been screened.

"Covid-19 sampling and disinfection works are still being conducted by the investigating team for risk and infection assessment."
