COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 193 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 193 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 67,900.


However, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said three deaths were also recorded today two in Tawau and one in Sandakan.


"Of the total cases, 84 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 45 were detected through cluster screening, 32 from targeted screening, 17 through symptomatic screening and 12 from other categories," he said in a statement today.


Kudat recorded the highest number of cases with 31 cases followed by Kota Kinabalu and Tawau (25), Beaufort (20), Penampang and Putatan (19), Tuaran (15), Semporna (eight), Kota Marudu (six), Papar and Keningau (five), Penampang and Lahad Datu (four), Kunak (three), Sandakan and Telupid (two).


Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases today are Sipitang, Nabawan, Kinabatangan, Tongod, Pitas, Tambunan, Kalabakan, Ranau, Kuala Penyu, Tenom, and Beluran.


The number of active cases now stands at 1,473 with 451 treated at hospitals and 1,020 in quarantine centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 69 with 20 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 319 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 65,557.
