KOTA KINABALU: Sabah continues to top the most new daily Covid-19 cases among the country, where 429 cases or 65 per cent out of the total 660 new nationwide cases reported today were recorded in the state.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, the latest addition brings the total of Covid-19 infections in Sabah to 17,540.

“If we look at the main fraction of the cases reported today, Sabah still recorded the highest number of cases at 429.

“More screening activities are being carried out and we have gotten more test results,” he said in a virtual press conference, Wednesday.

According to Noor Hisham, of the total number of positive cases today, 197 tested positive from a close contact screening, while 78 cases were from existing clusters and 54 cases from other Covid-19 screening activities.

He added that a total of 233 patients have recovered from the virus today, bring the total number of nationwide recoveries to 11,605, which also translates to 66.2 per cent recovery rate.

The number of active cases in the country as of Wednesday stands at 5,768.
