KOTA KINABALU: The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (KePKAS) emphasises the importance of collaborating with civil society organisations to promote activities with cultural and social significance.
Datuk Seri Christina Liew said this at the FCAS Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration and International Dragon Boat Race Appreciation Dinner on Monday where she highlighted that the Federation has, for many years, played a vital role in promoting cultural activities, education, and social services.
"We believe that only through joint efforts between the government and community organisations can we continually attract tourists, stimulate the local economy, and simultaneously strengthen community cohesion and the spirit of unity. The Federation has always been a strong partner of the government in fostering social harmony and multicultural exchanges," Liew stated.
The Minister expressed her confidence that, under the leadership of President Tan Sri T.C. Goh, FCAS will remain a significant force in promoting cultural heritage and social unity.
"Your successful organisation of the 10th Sabah FCAS International Dragon Boat Race this year has once again brought honour to Sabah. The event united teams from both Sabah and the international community, showcasing not only the unique charm of Chinese culture but also enriching Sabah’s cultural fabric and boosting tourism.
"The spirit of dragon boat racing emphasises unity, teamwork, and mutual support, precisely the qualities needed to drive community and state development. Through this event, everyone worked hand-in-hand, regardless of ethnicity, contributing to Sabah’s cultural and economic advancement. Such contributions deserve great recognition," Liew added.
Regarding the Mid-Autumn Festival, she noted that it symbolises reunion and harmony, as well as gratitude and unity. "This celebration is not only a continuation of cultural traditions but also a reflection of the solidarity and warmth within our community."
In his address, Goh paid tribute to the Minister for her unwavering commitment and support during her tenure from 2023 to 2025. "FCAS is fortunate to have (Datuk Seri) Christina's steadfast support, which has contributed significantly to the success of our events, such as the International Dragon Boat Race and other cultural activities," he said.
Also present was the President of the United Sabah Chinese Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu (USCCAKK), Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen.

Geometry Dash Lite is a free mobile game created by RobTop Games. It’s a rhythm-based platformer where you control a square that jumps and moves through different levels full of spikes, obstacles, and tricky paths. The main goal is to reach the end of the geometry dash lite level without crashing. It sounds easy, but it’s actually very hard and takes a lot of practice.
