KUALA LUMPUR: The increased global demand for sustainable and eco-friendly textiles makes it imperative for the industry to prioritise green manufacturing practices to establish itself as a frontrunner in sustainable textiles.

Datuk Ewon Benedick the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Coporative said this strategic approach will not only attract environmentally conscious investors and consumers but also align with Malaysia's National Investment Aspirations (NIA), which underscores the significance of sustainable development.

Speaking during the launching of Malaysia-China Textile EXPO 2024 (MALACHI-TEX) he said during this event attendees will experience a harmonious blend of tradition and cutting-edge technology, craftsmanship and innovation, as well as the convergence of the textile industry's rich past and promising future.

According to him, the exhibition's scope is both broad and remarkable, encompassing a diverse array of products ranging from surface accessories like woven, knitted, and printed fabrics to cotton, silk, and wool fibre yarns, home textiles, and advanced textile finishing techniques.

The event also showcased the vibrant apparel sector featuring fashion garments, ethnic wear, children's wear, and the essential textile and chemical industry components such as dyes, additives, and digital printing inks, he said.

"This event stands as a global focal point for the textile industry. It provides a platform for leading companies and key stakeholders to drive substantial growth, explore novel opportunities, establish global connections, and unveil groundbreaking innovations in machinery, accessories, and services," he stated.

"The significance of this unified platform cannot be overstated. By convening the industry's major players in one space, we are fostering a synergistic environment that promotes knowledge sharing, encourages collaboration, and catalyzes innovation and growth throughout the textile and apparel sector."

The event was organised by the Malaysia Senators Council with the invaluable support of the Malaysia Advanced Customization Association, Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau and of course the International PR & Protocol Event Advisor, Mr KK CHIA of PVVIPM International Club Sdn Bhd.

Ewon said from 26 to 28 June 2024 they celebrate a remarkable testimony of the enduring partnership and cooperative spirit between two great nations.

" This event is timely as it coincides with the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China."

"As we celebrate this milestone, we should also look forward to a future characterized by continued partnership and innovation. Our joint efforts will not only improve the sustainability of the textile industry but also contribute to the broader economic and cultural ties between China, Malaysia and other countries."
