"This is actually the first time in Asia that a press conference like this has been held here in Sabah," he declared. The initiative aims to benefit Sabahans everywhere by making elite collectibles accessible without the expense of travelling to hubs like London or New York.

"We wanted to bring this event to Sabah so that it can benefit Sabahans everywhere," Allen Masudal spokesperson of the press conference added, emphasising the emotional pull of the items, “not just the artefacts themselves; we're talking about the emotions, the feelings, the inspiration they evoke."

The showcase features jerseys spanning generations, medals, cigars, and even pieces signed by Lionel Messi.  "We have signed jerseys, medals, cigars, leather products, medals and more," he revealed. Around 15 to 20 items were would be displayed eventually, with plans for a full exhibition of up to 50 artefacts in future.

He expressed his hope that the future will see Sabah Tourism and the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) come together, in collaboration with the exhibition ensuring that the event produce broader economic ripples.

"This initiative can boost tourism and help local businesses to strengthen their brands," Allen noted adding that there will be future exhibitions with venues still under discussion.

“I am sure that football fans from across Sabah – Kudat, Lahad Datu, Sandakan – and abroad, including China, Taiwan, and Australia, will come to view this exhibition,” he said adding that the collections, acquired worth millions of ringgits is a great attraction especially to footballs fans.

Adding intrigue, the launch ties into diverse collaborations. "Green Change is about modern, hydroponic farming methods... Our goal is to contribute to food security in the areas of Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, and the broader Golden Triangle," a representative Randolph Lojiu said.

“Allen proposed uniting these under one umbrella, inspired by football's unifying spirit, "From a sports perspective, it also ties into brand awareness for Green Change and other initiatives."

Allen envisioned government backing, including from the Chief Minister Office, to amplify impact. "Our main objective is to demonstrate that Sabah can achieve big things despite its size," he affirmed, expressing gratitude to early supporters.

The preview display catered to media and select guests, with larger exhibitions slated in two to three weeks. As Sabah gears up for FIFA World Cup 2026 fervour, this fusion of sport and sustainability signals bold ambitions for the state's global stage.
