Education Empowerment Requires Government and Education Department Collaboration

29 July 2024

KOTA KINABALU: The State Government consistently collaborates with the Ministry of Education through the State Education Department (JPN) to advance the government's agenda of empowering and enhancing the quality of education in the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor emphasized the significance of this partnership, saying that educational excellence serves as a key driver for improving the overall quality of life for the people. Efforts are focused on enhancing educational infrastructure in alignment with the state government's commitment to nurturing a skilled and competitive workforce.

Hajiji stressed the importance of collective efforts from stakeholders, including the Department of Education, educators, and parents, to ensure the success and future of the children. The state government remains dedicated to enhancing human capital development to enable more Sabah children to pursue higher education and acquire essential skills. An allocation of RM474.55 million has been earmarked for this purpose this year.

During the 12th JPN Academic Excellence Recognition Ceremony (MEKAR) for Sabah Year 2024 at the Sabah International Convention Center (SICC), Hajiji announced the launch of the Sabah Education Sponsorship Portal.

This innovative platform consolidates major education sponsors in the state, providing support to Sabah's students, particularly those pursuing higher education, through various sponsoring bodies and educational aid providers under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) initiative.

Hajiji hoped that the integration of communication technology and internet-based teaching methods, including ICT, will continue to evolve, addressing challenges and fostering knowledge enhancement garnered during the pandemic. This approach aligns with the national goal of establishing a competitive and excellent education system.
