Ewon Elected as New Chairman of PH Sabah

1 December 2024

KOTA KINABALU: Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick has been elected as the new Chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah for the 2024 to 2026 term.

Ewon, who is also the President of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), was elected to the position during the PH Sabah annual meeting held here today.

Speaking to reporters after the annual meeting, Ewon expressed that this election is a significant responsibility that he must bear to ensure that the PH Sabah machinery and the MADANI Government can provide a better future for the people of Sabah.

“PH Sabah has the autonomy to determine governance and political cooperation. The decisions made in today’s PH Sabah annual meeting have satisfied all the constitutional requirements of PH and ran smoothly.

“I would like to express my highest appreciation to Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew for her significant contributions during her tenure as Chairman of PH Sabah,” he said.

Ewon emphasized that there is no feeling that the PH coalition must be led by a local party, as it has a broader vision and goal of providing a better future for the people of Sabah.

“Whether the Chairman of PH Sabah is from PKR, DAP, AMANAH, or UPKO, it is a secondary matter. PH Sabah participates in the leadership and democratic processes of the country because we want to ensure the rights to development, constitutional rights, and a better future for the people of Sabah.

“PH Sabah also wants to ensure that the MADANI Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains stable to develop the Federation of Malaysia,” he added.
