Fiesta SuBaRa boosts enthusiasm for sports among MEDC's workforce - Ewon

KOTA KINABALU: The Fiesta SuBaRa 2024 event promotes and popularise sports among the ministry's workforce.

Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDC) Datuk Ewon Benedick stated that this is also in line with the Malaysia MADANI framework and the National Sports Vision 2030.

"The culture of sports should not only be emphasised at the school or higher education level but should also be practiced in the workplace so that our lifestyle remains active and energetic through sports activities.

"I believe that Programmes like this can inject a spirit of cooperation and teamwork among agencies under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDC) and help the ministry achieve its set aspirations and objectives," he said.

He said this when officiating the Closing Ceremony of the Bank Rakyat Sports Fiesta (SuBaRa) 2024 at SICC Kota Kinabalu today.

Also present were Bank Rakyat Chairman Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak, Bank Rakyat Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Hanis Osman, and top management of MEDC.

The sports event lasted for four days starting from February 15 and for the first time was attended by representatives from each agency under the Ministry.

The total number of athlete participants was 818 from all over the country competing in 16 sports events.

Ewon said that the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork should continue among the top leadership and every level of the workforce, including agencies under MEDC.

He congratulated the management of Bank Rakyat, the KEBARA Committee, agencies under MEDC, and all participants who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this event.
