PENAMPANG: Food Aid Sabah and Penampang MP continue their pursuit of lessening the woes faced by disaster victims in the district by providing aid to a victim of a recent flood.
As part of an initiative by Food Aid Sabah and MP Penampang, Datuk Darell Leiking, represented by his Political Aid Kenneth Jayaraman along with Food Aid Sabah's representative Darren Liew, secretary Karl Ching, and committee member Kenny Tan, recently presented a cheque of RM2,000.
The aid was given to ease the burdens faced by Clarence Dahanja, 48, whose house was wrecked by flood in Kampung Tinduuzon, Sugud, Penampang on 15th September, last year.
Clarence and his family of six had to stay at a relative's house following the flood which had also destroyed many of their valuables.
However, his house, from the goodwill of concerned citizens who contributed donations and supplies along with support from neighbouring villagers, government bodies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and caring individuals, is in the process of being rebuilt. The house is reportedly 60 per cent completed.
"I am grateful to Food Aid Sabah and Member of Parliament Penampang for lending a helping hand in our time of need. This aid will surely help in getting us back on our feet.
“I think it's touching how people from all walks of life can band together to help the less fortunate like this. It is surely one of the many qualities we Sabahans possess in our tightly-knit community," said Clarence.
