KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) has on Monday urged the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government to clarify the RM7 billion Lok Kawi project.

In conjunction with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's launch of Lok Kawi Resort City, Warisan Vice President Datuk Junz Wong said a similar groundbreaking ceremony and launch was done by Warisan in May 2019.

He asserted that a similar investment initiative was brought in by Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal who was then the State Chief Minister in July 2020.

"Same investment sum... RM7 billion. Same developers... Yayasan Sabah and Tegas Bangsa Sdn Bhd. Same location... Lok Kawi, Putatan. I am not sure if GRS is claiming credit. Because what Warisam started in July 2020, looks similar to what Muhyiddin launched today.

"Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Apdal when serving as Chief Minister of Sabah convinced investors that Sabah was the right investment destination. On top of that, investors were also confident of Warisan's development plans and vision for Sabah," he said in a statement.

Junz who is also Tanjung Aru State Assemblyman recalled the criticisms and insults hurled by the then-Opposition when Warisan initiated the investment.

"Unfortunately they (the opposition back then) said it was impossible for investors to bring in such huge investments to Sabah."

"They even went further to accuse Shafie of selling Sabah to private developers! But the truth is now revealed, one by one. The foundation for a more developed and competitive Sabah has been laid by Warisan."
