KUALA LUMPUR: Building on the success of its inaugural launch in 2024, HOYA Malaysia continues its mission to safeguard the eyesight of future generations through the ongoing rollout of its initiative, A Million Visions. Coinciding with World Sight Day 2025, the campaign aims to emphasise the importance of eye health for children and address the rising concern of myopia affecting Malaysia’s younger population.
Taking place from 16 to 22 October 2025, the A Million Visions campaign offers free eye examinations for children aged 5 to 12 across more than 800 participating Eye Care Professional Optical Stores nationwide.
These examinations are designed to educate and encourage Malaysians to take proactive steps in protecting their children’s vision by recognising the importance of early detection and seeking professional eye health assessments before issues progress.
As part of HOYA Vision Care’s ongoing commitment to early intervention in childhood myopia, the campaign also highlights the value of clinically proven solutions for long-term management.
HOYA’s MiYOSMART spectacle lenses, developed using Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (D.I.M.S.) Technology, provide a non-invasive, effective approach to slowing myopia progression in children.
Supported by extensive global clinical research and trusted by eye care professionals, MiYOSMART lenses are tailored for myopia management in young patients, delivering clear vision while significantly reducing the rate of myopia progression.
To bolster nationwide efforts in managing childhood myopia, HOYA Malaysia introduced the HOYA MiYOSMART Early Control Subsidy in 2025, as part of the A Million Visions campaign.
This initiative offers an instant RM350 subsidy on MiYOSMART myopia control lenses, making clinically proven myopia care more accessible to Malaysians and emphasising the importance of early eye health management for children.
“A Million Visions was born from a simple but urgent truth: too many children miss out on early eye care due to lack of awareness, access, or affordability.
As a leader in vision care, we feel it is our responsibility to act. Our initiative aims to help families take the first step in safeguarding their children’s vision by collaborating with certified optometrists nationwide to make eye examinations more accessible. This isn’t just a one-off effort; it’s part of a long-term commitment to changing how communities perceive and prioritise eye health for children,” said Lew Chee Quin, Managing Director of Malaysian Hoya Lens Sdn. Bhd.
Children are natural explorers, constantly engaging with their surroundings through movement, touch, and play. In fact, young children may wipe their lenses up to 8,000 times over the lifespan of a single pair, often using shirts, tissues, or rough surfaces that can damage lens coatings and impair clarity over time.
Therefore, a key feature of this year’s campaign is the Malaysian debut of the MiYOSMART Coating STX, HOYA Vision Care’s latest innovation in myopia care.
Specifically designed for children, the MiYOSMART Coating STX helps lenses stay clearer for longer, makes them easier to clean and maintain, and offers long-lasting protection—all vital for regular wear, which is essential for effective myopia control. Available now on MiYOSMART lenses, the STX coating provides advanced hydrophobic performance, actively repelling water, fingerprints, dirt, and grease. This keeps lenses cleaner for longer and maintains visual clarity even after 2.7 years of regular use.
This innovation not only enhances durability and ease of cleaning but also encourages consistent wear, particularly during outdoor activities, an important factor in healthy eye development and proven to help slow myopia progression. By removing barriers to daily use, the MiYOSMART Coating STX empowers children to explore, play, and grow with confidence.
