KOTA BELUD: Kadamaian Development Master Plan for 2020-2035 is a study, conducted by the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), that has been appointed as the consultant for this critical assessment.
During a recent meeting with several Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) the objective of the study was stressed and that it was to prepare a comprehensive report that assesses the achievements of the Kadamaian Development Master Plan.
Kg Losou Podi’s JKKK Chairman, Japin Lingkuyu, expressed his enthusiasm after attending the event, emphasising its importance in shaping the future of his community. He noted that the gathering offered valuable insights into effective strategies for planning and implementing development initiatives in their village.
“Participating in this event has truly opened my eyes to new possibilities,” Japin remarked, adding that his community are mostly involved agricultural activities.
“The discussions on sustainable practices and community engagement provided us with practical tools and innovative ideas that we can adapt to our local context. I am eager to take these insights back to our village and collaborate with other leaders to create a comprehensive development plan that addresses the unique needs of our residents.”
Japin highlighted the necessity of community-driven approaches in development, stressing that involving local voices and perspectives is critical to ensuring successful outcomes. He expressed optimism about the potential for positive change in Kg Losou Podi, empowered by the knowledge and strategies gained from the event.
For Jolyhame Saran, the Chairman of the JKKK of Kg. Piasau, this programme represents a significant opportunity for community development. It enables government entities to accurately identify the focal points for assistance that align with their agency's objectives.
“One of the key advantages of this program is its emphasis on sharing the important and pressing needs of each village. By facilitating this exchange, it is anticipated that villagers will benefit more directly from targeted government action, which is vital for transforming under-resourced villages into thriving communities,” he said.
The programme has also spotlighted a variety of potential activities that could be introduced, including tamu or traditional rural market, tourism, agriculture, and plantation development, which is already present in his village, he said.
“It is hoped that the government will provide support or resources to empower communities through subsidies and market access, allowing these local industries to flourish and become sustainable businesses.”
