KENINGAU: The construction of the Keningau Integrated Public Transport Terminal (Keningau Sentral) has been approved under the 13th Malaysia Plan (2026–2030), with funding provided by the Sabah State Government.

Chief Coordinator of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Youth Keningau, Rafie Datuk Robert, said the terminal project is expected to become the main public transport hub in Keningau, connecting both local and long-distance routes to major destinations including Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Sipitang, Beaufort, Menumbok, Tambunan, Tenom, Sook, Nabawan, Ranau and Sandakan.

Covering an area of 30,000 square feet, the terminal will feature sheltered bus bays, toilets, a prayer room (surau), commercial spaces, 500 parking bays, and a comprehensive security system including fencing and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

“Keningau Sentral will serve as a catalyst for a more modern and efficient public transport system, while also creating new economic opportunities for the local community,” said Rafie in a media statement today.

At the same time, he expressed his appreciation to the Sabah State Government, led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, for its continued commitment to infrastructure development in Keningau.
