PAPAR: “Juil has not been confirmed as the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for the Limbahau state seat, with no formal announcement made on which party within the coalition will contest the constituency,” UPKO Papar Vice Chief Selverinus Jack Manjimbang.

In response to Juil’s earlier statement expressing his intention to contest the seat again, Selverinus Jack said Limbahau, which was first contested in the 2020 state election, remains an open seat under the rule of incumbency and can therefore be contested freely by any party.

“Limbahau is a relatively new constituency. As there has been no formal designation of candidates, it should be treated as an open seat where the people have the right to assess and decide who best represents their interests,” he said.

Juil, who won the Limbahau seat in 2020 under the Warisan banner, has since switched political parties and is reportedly hoping to be nominated by GRS to contest again in the coming state election.

In light of this, UPKO is offering itself as a credible alternative for the people of Limbahau, believing that the constituency deserves fresh leadership that genuinely serves the people.

“So far, the response from the people of Limbahau has been very encouraging. Many have expressed their desire for change and for a representative who truly works for them,” Selverinus Jack added.

He further stated that should UPKO be given the opportunity to contest in Limbahau, the party is fully prepared to take on Juil, regardless of which party he represents.

“The people of Limbahau deserve to be given a real choice, a chance to elect an assemblyman who is committed to their welfare, not one driven by political convenience,” he concluded.
