KOTA KINABALU: Lions Clubs International has continued its humanitarian mission by contributing cleaning detergent supplies worth approximately RM18,000 to flood victims in Sabah.

The contribution was made through District 308-A2, led by Second Vice District Governor, Alyssa Lim, as part of efforts to support communities affected by recent floods.

This aid was fully sponsored by FFM Berhad, a company equally committed to the needs of disaster victims. Through this collaboration, over 300 households and six schools have directly benefitted.

Distribution covered the areas of Sepanggar, Papar and Penampang, which were among the hardest hit by flash floods. Cleaning supplies were prioritised as victims needed to restore homes, schools and public facilities following the receding waters.

According to Alyssa, basic necessities such as cleaning detergents are crucial during post-flood recovery as they help ensure hygiene and reduce the risk of infectious diseases among affected communities.

“Lions Clubs International is committed not only to welfare, but also to promoting health and wellbeing.

“We hope this assistance will help ease the burden of those striving to rebuild their lives,” she said.

She also expressed her appreciation to FFM Berhad for their strong support in making this corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative a success.

She emphasised that collaboration between civil society organisations and the private sector can create greater impact for communities.

Meanwhile, representatives from recipient schools conveyed their gratitude for the attention given.

They described the contribution as especially meaningful in ensuring a clean and safe environment for students to return to.

Residents who received the aid also voiced relief, noting that cleaning supplies are among the most urgent needs after a flood.

They welcomed the initiative by Lions Clubs International, which has consistently reached out to assist communities in times of difficulty.

Through such efforts, Lions Clubs International continues to strengthen its role as a globally recognised community service organisation committed to welfare, health, and sustainable community development worldwide.
