NEWLY DETECTED 'JALAN SIBUGA' CLUSTER IN SANDAKAN

KOTA KINABALU: One new Covid-19 cluster, dubbed as the 'Jalan Sibuga Cluster', was reported in Sandakan today.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said, the cluster was detected through a symptomatic and close contact screening at Sri Harapan Old Folks Home.


"Jalan Sibuga Cluster recorded a cumulative total of nine positive cases, including four new cases today," he said in a statement here, today.


To date, a total of 80 individuals have been screened.


Meanwhile, another 403 positive cases were registered today, bringing the tally of Covid-19 infections in Sabah to 40,666.


Of the total, 263 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 70 were from symptomatic screening, 17 from inter-district screening, 22 from new and existing clusters screening, and the rest were from various categories.


"A total of 263 patients have recovered from Covid-19, and the total of statewide recoveries now stand at 37,021.


"A total of 2,653 patients are still being treated with 673 of them in the hospital and the rest in quarantine centres.


"Sixty-seven of them are currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 14 of them are currently ventilated," Masidi said.


Unfortunately, one more patient succumbed to the disease today, involving an 83-year-old woman.
