KOTA KINABALU: United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) President Datuk Ewon Benedick was at St. Thomas More, Kapayan Church for Sunday mass.
Besides him were Kapayan UPKO Candidate Billy Joe Dominic and his wife Marilyn Deasy Jiliko and Moyog UPKO Candidate Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin.
Ewon is an UPKO Candidate for Kadamaian.
It is refreshing to see a moment of quiet among these vocal UPKO Stalwarts.
These Candidates who had spent the week shaking hands, listening to grievances, and urging voters to support their cause now take a deliberate pause. For a brief window, politics yields to faith, reflection, and rest.
In Sabah, in many towns and villages, Sunday is treated as a sacred interval, an inherited rhythm that predates modern political contests. Church bells ring out across the landscape, calling parishioners to worship.
And in a gesture that resonates with the public, these three UPKO leaders step back from the frenetic pace of campaigning.
The pause is more than symbolic; it is a recognition that communities need time for spiritual grounding and personal peace, no matter how intense the political climate may be.
