KOTA BELUD: Tombulion Ulu Tamu Desa was the venue for a recent short course on Yellow Noodle Production and Basic Branding, organised by the Marketing Diploma Unit of Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic.
The event successfully brought together 30 participants from surrounding communities. Held on 13 December 2025, the programme aimed to equip local residents with essential skills to venture into noodle production and develop effective branding strategies, thereby fostering entrepreneurship and boosting income levels in the area.
In addition to the training, a Green CSR initiative involving flower planting to promote environmental sustainability was conducted simultaneously at Ginorowong Pond.

Led by the Organising Chairperson, Ladvia Anak Ajiu, and involving 16 dedicated lecturers from the Department of Trade, the activity formed part of the programme’s broader effort to encourage community involvement and environmental conservation.
The Chairman of Koperasi Komuniti Tambulion Ulu Kota Belud Berhad, Boniface @ Doni Jiran, expressed his enthusiasm over the event’s success and its positive impact.
“This programme not only empowers local communities with valuable skills but also encourages social responsibility and environmental awareness. We believe these initiatives will lead to sustainable development and stronger ties between the institution and the community,” he said.

The event received strong support from local residents, who welcomed the green activities and recognised their importance in maintaining ecological balance and enhancing the surrounding environment.
Boniface noted that such collaborative efforts exemplify the role of educational institutions in fostering community growth and sustainability through practical training and environmental stewardship.
According to Ladvia, programmes such as these demonstrate the commitment of Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic lecturers to supporting environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR). She added that the active involvement of lecturers in community activities can have a positive impact and help strengthen strategic relationships between educational institutions and society.
The initiative underscores Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic’s commitment to contributing actively to community development and environmental preservation, setting a commendable example for future CSR programmes focused on sustainable livelihoods and ecological well-being.
Meanwhile, Boniface also expressed his appreciation to Kadamaian State Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick for the initiative to establish the Dewan Tamu Desa.
“The facility not only provides trading space for local market traders, but also serves as a venue for organising courses and other community activities,” he said.
