RANAU: All religious activities and gatherings, including worship services and holy masses at all outstation churches of St Peter Claver Ranau (SPCR) Parish will be temporarily halted.

SPCR Rector Rev Fr Nicholas Stephen said, all activities will be postponed until the Covid-19 situation in Sabah subsides.

All parishioners are however advised to stream the online weekend mass held at 9am via Cahaya Kinabalu Facebook account and YouTube channel.

"We must obey the directives by the Ministry of Health (MOH) because it seems that our current situation is very worrying.

"In Ranau, many are being treated and quarantined at home at the moment... Given this situation, I ask for cooperation from all of us to continue to comply with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)," he said.

Nicholas also reminded the public to not go out to the town if there is no urgent need.

On another note, he urged the public to not simply believe unverified news or information.

"Do not be too quick to believe any information we see on Whatsapp or Facebook.

"There are also those who disguise themselves by contacting people by phone, claiming that they are MOH staff. They are actually robbers.

"Also remind everyone around us to stay at home and practice good personal hygiene, use face masks and observe social distancing,” he said.

He also reminded all Catholics to continue praying the Rosary.
