RM70,000 Contribution from QSR Brands to Support Penampang Flood Victims

PENAMPANG: The Persatuan Kebajikan Komuniti Moyog Penampang extends its heartfelt gratitude to QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd, through KFC Sabah, for the generous contribution of RM70,000 in support of ongoing flood relief efforts in Penampang.

The cheque presentation ceremony was held on 9 October 2025 at KFC Bandaran Berjaya, Kota Kinabalu, where the Head of KFC East Malaysia, Mr. Lim Kok Fung, handed over the donation to Association Chairman, Mr. Billy Jinawat, accompanied by the Association Secretary, Mr. Michael Fadillah Riao.

This contribution, channeled through QSR Stores Sdn. Bhd., was initially requested to support 2,318 affected victims identified during the early stages of flood assessment across 20 villages in the Penampang district.

However, following updated field assessments and the evolving flood situation, the Association is now focusing on providing aid specifically to families most severely impacted, particularly those who lost their homes due to landslides or are still living in temporary shelters.

Currently, many of these victims are taking refuge at the Institute of Native Court Building in Kampung Kibabaig, with affected areas including Kampung Timpangoh Laut Sugud, Kampung Putaton, Kampung Sobong Boliga Kolopis, Kampung Sarapung Kolopis, and Kampung Sogumau Madsiang.

“While the initial request involved a wider list of 2,318 victims, our current priority is to ensure that the most urgent and severe cases receive the necessary support first. We remain committed to helping as many as possible, based on the available resources and needs on the ground,” said Mr. Billy.

He added, “We deeply appreciate the trust placed in us by QSR Brands and KFC Sabah, and we assure that the aid is being channeled transparently and responsibly to those who need it most.”

The Association will continue to collaborate with community leaders and relevant agencies to monitor needs and extend further assistance as additional support becomes available.
