PENAMPANG : “Sabah First!” echoed through the hall, powerful and rhythmic, shaking the rafters and setting the tone for the hours to come.
More then 3000 People had convened at Dewan Gawir Kg Madsiang to welcome their leader of choice Datuk Ewon Benedick President of United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO).
He arrived amidst shouts of 'UPKO, Sabah First' and as he greeted each and everyone, there was a palpable feeling of pride for the young politician, who had achieved so much in his career.

Pillexson James, 42, the UPKO Youth Chief for Kota Marudu, cheered enthusiastically as he voiced his support for the President’s decision to resign as Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives.
According to him, it was a bold and strategic move, one that would help ensure Sabah is seen as a state that places its priorities firmly above political convenience.

He was echoed by Roland Chan, 46, the UPKO Vice Chief for Tuaran, who stressed the importance of the Sabah First slogan, particularly when it concerns federal allocations and long-overdue rights for Sabah.
“My hope is that Datuk Ewon will continue his struggle to ensure that these rights are finally realised,” he said.

Salbinous Saribun, 40 Deputy Youth Chief of UPKO Tuaran shared that he has every confidence that through the Sabah First agenda, with UPKO's determination "we can turn our aspirations into reality. This agenda will not only advocate for essential rights, such as the pursuit of 40% allocations, but will also encompass broader objectives outlined in the MA63 framework.
"As we strive to elevate Sabah from its current challenges, it is imperative that we rally together and commit to this agenda. By doing so, we can build a more prosperous and equitable future for all. The time has come for Sabah to lead, and with collective effort, we can ensure that future generations inherit not merely the burdens of today, but the promise of a better tomorrow."

Rexie As Gubat, 42, Deputy UPKO Chief of Ranau said
" For me, I feel that this is very much aligned with the objectives for the people of Sabah at this moment: Sabah First agenda, that highlight the urgency of placing Sabah at the forefront of national development.
He emphasised the need to develop Sabah within the broader context of Malaysia, noting that “every development should ideally begin in Sabah,” especially given the state’s current socio-economic challenges. Sabah remains one of the poorest states in the country, with ten poorest districts in Malaysia located within its borders.
“This is why I am committed to the Sabah First agenda,” he said. “I want to see future generations, the children and young people who will inherit what we are currently facing, enjoy a better quality of life.”

He expressed hope that through the Sabah First initiative, with UPKO, Sabah can realise a brighter future by advocating for the state’s rights to the 40% revenue share and the full implementation of MA63 provisions.
Such sentiments was echoed by others in the open hall long before the first speaker took the stage.
As the Leaders strode onto the stage to thunderous applause, cameras flashed from every direction, and the air itself felt charged with expectation.
Impassioned speeches were delivered by UPKO President Datuk Ewon Benedick, Tamparuli Contender and Honorary president Datuk Seri Madius Tangau as well Datuk Donald Mojuntin, Moyog Contender, among others.
