SABAH RECORDS 308 COVID-19 CASES, NEW DAILY RECORD

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today recorded an all-time high of 308 new Covid-19 cases, a surge of 91 cases compared to yesterday, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 61,582.


Sabah's official Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Masidi Manjun said one death was also reported in Kota Kinabalu.


Of the total cases, 123 stemmed from close contacts while 115 from clusters screening, 51 from symptomatic screening, six from targeted screening, and 13 from other categories.


“Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of new cases with 43 followed by Tawau with 37,

Kunak (36), Keningau (27), Papar (26), Kalabakan (25), Lahad Datu (18), Kuala Penyu (16), Penampang (13), Sandakan (11), Kota Belud (10), Tuaran and Beaufort (nine), Kudat and Putatan (eight), Semporna (five), Kinabatangan (four), Tongod (two), and Sipitang (one).


“Meanwhile, districts that did not record any cases today are Tenom, Pitas, Kota Marudu, Ranau, Nabawan, Tambunan, Beluran, and Telupid.


“The drastic increase of cases was strongly influenced by the attitude of the community especially in their compliance on the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) set by the government,” he said in a statement today.


According to Masidi, a total of 136 patients have recovered today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 59,238.


"A total of 1,341 patients are still under treatment with 419 in hospitals, 917 in quarantine centres, and five in temporary detention centres.


"Seventy-ne patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 26 of them requiring ventilator support,” he added.
